Why I Blog

My main reason for starting to blog is because I lost my Dad to colon cancer in 2001. He was only 41 years young. Here he is making cookies when my mom was in the hospital:

Even though I was 15 and a sophomore in high school when he died, I feel like I don't have much to refer to when I'm really missing him. Sure, I have memories, but as we age those memories start to blur. I don't have very many pictures of him and I have not been able to find a picture of him and I together since I was little. That makes me sad. If something were to happen to me or my husband, I want my daughter to have something to look back on to remember us. We take lots of pictures, but we need to get better about taking pictures of us WITH her and not just pictures of how pretty she is. :) We never really expect that we will lose someone we love. My dad was diagnosed with cancer in February 2001 and passed in October. So it wasn't a sudden death, but his time on Earth was cut way too short. I frequently blog about him especially when I am having a really hard time accepting that he is really gone. I do blog funny things about it, but most of my blogs about Dad are rather emotional. I feel like I'd rather just blog about him then talk about him because some people don't understand. Until you've lost a parent, you just don't get it.

I am also choosing to blog about my weightloss and running. I figure it's a great place to be held accountable. I use MyFitnessPal for calorie tracking and I have some great friends on there who "get on me" when I don't log in for a few days. I'd like one place to be able to keep up with my progress along the way so that I can look back and see how far I've come. Someday I will be brave enough to post before and after pictures. I just need to get to the after first. =)

I blog about silly things, things people don't care about, and about life in general. I like to think that I'm funny, but I'm sure not everyone agrees! Feel free to follow me and also send me a link to your blog, if you blog.

Happy Blogging!
