Onion Juice?

I am 17 weeks as of yesterday. I can't believe I am almost half way done with this pregnancy already. It just seems crazy to me. This week the baby is an "Onion". For a lemon, I drank some lemon juice (yummy). For an orange, I had orange juice. I don't really feel like eating an onion...
I had my 17 week/4 month appointment today. Everything is good. I am up 1 lb from my 13 week appointment, but still down 4 lbs from my 9 week appointment. Since I have a little extra "fluff" to me then I don't need to gain a ton of weight anyway. I am glad that I am holding steady, but I am definitely wearing maternity shirts now! I don't see a baby bump just yet, but my intestines are being rearranged and pushed up. (Gross. I just pictured a horror movie.) I have had killer headaches and so I told my doctor. He wrote me a prescription that I am going to fill tomorrow. I am not going to use them ALL the time, but Tylenol just ain't cuttin' it right now. So anyway, the baby's heart rate was 153. Healthy little boy/girl. We find out on March 7th what we are having. =) It can't come soon enough! I can't believe we will know in a little over a week what we are having! I am so excited.
We also set our wedding date. =) We will be getting married on Saturday, March 19th.
It's just a small shindig so don't feel left out if you don't get an invite. We are only inviting Joey's parents/step parents, grandparents, and brother as well as my brother and sister-in-law, and my sister and her fiance. My mom and youngest sister can't be there.
I am not going to lie: it makes me a little sad to be getting married and knowing that I will not have my mom OR my dad there. I have never been one to picture my dream wedding, I don't really give a hoot about flowers or colors or bridesmaids, and I don't like the hassle of planning an extravagant event. But I always thought that my Dad would walk me down the aisle and my mom would cry when he "gave me away". I know our wedding will be a quick, no hassle ceremony, but I can't help but tear up when I think about looking into the "crowd" and only seeing Joey's parents there. I know they will have smiles on their faces and welcome me (and our soon to be baby) to their family because they have already welcomed me with open arms and are really the best in-laws a girl could have. I am very happy about all of the wonderful changes going on in mine and Joey's life, but it's a bitter sweet type of happiness for me. I have had a hard time not having Mom here to go through "pregnancy things" with me. I wish we could shop together and I could share my excitement and fears with her. Instead, the last time she saw me I was a little over 8 weeks/2 months pregnant and didn't have anything to show for it. The next time she sees me (probably at my baby shower), I will be a little over 28 weeks/7 months pregnant. I know that our baby will be lucky enough to have 2 grandpas and 2 great-grandpas, but none of those are my Dad. A while back, I was looking at baby outfits at Kohl's. I saw a onesie similar to this and cried:
It actually said, "Grandpa is the coolest", but I couldn't find the onesie anywhere online. Either way, the point is this: I miss my dad and wish he was here.

Holy Guacamole!

Well, this week the baby is about the size of an avocado (about 4.6 inches, 3.5 ounces). It sounds small, but don't forget that the baby starts doubling every week! I am not going to lie...I am getting so excited to find out the gender. Two teachers at school are also pregnant (one is around 33-34 weeks and the other is at about 19 weeks, I believe). The first one has known for a while that she is having a boy and the second one found out yesterday that she is having a boy as well. If our symptoms are indicators at all (which I highly doubt they are since every woman and every pregnancy is different) then I am having a girl for sure! My symptoms are crazy compared to the symptoms they have had. On a positive note: I think my 24/7 nausea is starting to decrease. It was a little rough this morning, but I am fine now. We go to the doctor for my 17 week check up next Thursday, Feb 24th. I was HOPING that I'd get my ultrasound that day, but the doctor told me that we will schedule my ultrasound for the following week (during my 18th week for more accuracy and so he can see the baby's organs better) with radiology. So hopefully we will know the gender in TWO weeks! Will Joey need a pink or blue Xbox controller now? =P

We are both going to take the day of our big ultrasound off and spend it together. We're going to get the ultrasound and go fill out the paperwork for our marriage license.
I am so looking forward to being Mrs. Petrosian, but not looking forward to spending the rest of my life saying, "P-E-T-R-O-S-I-A-N" when people ask me what my last name is. =P Joey just spells it instead of saying it.

Happy Valentine's Day

I would just like to put it in writing that I have the best fiance ever. He totally made my week with the cards he gave me on Saturday and the roses he had delivered to work today. For those of you who really know Joey, you will understand when I say that he is a "Love, Joey" kind of guy when it comes to cards. He rarely writes a message and usually picks out a card that is really funny. Example: Last year's card was that one that says, "I love spooning you, but I love forking you better"...LOL It was cuter than this one though:
This year he gave me 3 cards. The first one was a "To My Wife" card and described our relationship and situation to a T. Then he wrote a nice, heartfelt message to me at the bottom. I started crying. The second card was a typical, funny Joey card and made me giggle. The 3rd was said "MOM" on the front of the card. I thought it was to HIS Mom, but he told me it was to me. After a few seconds, I realized what he meant. (Duh, Amanda.)

It was a cute card "from the baby". The message Joey wrote said, "I love you so much already Mommy. Love, Baby"....I really started bawling.

*sigh* He's a keeper. (He better be since he went and got me knocked up, LOL)

Country Bumpkins

I came across this blog that I had once written on MySpace. It gave me a good laugh. It's funny whether you know me and my siblings or not, but it's even funnier if you were there to experience any of these things with us. Enjoy!

The first thing that comes to my mind was when we lived in Bowie and used to climb on the roof of the house. We used to walk across the top as if we were gold medalist gymnasts walking the balance beam. I can't imagine what it would have felt like to fall and I am guessing that I never thought about that at the time. What kid actually weights the pros and cons of doing something stupid or dangerous? Our house had that tin stuff on the roof and we would have slipped and completely crashed into the ground. Nothing would have stopped us. Our parents hated when we got on the house. Of course we used to lie and say we weren't up there even though they could hear our feet from inside the house. Stupid kids.

We also had a garage, more like a shack, located beside the house. We used to jump from the house to the garage--about a 3 feet gap with a fence below--with no worries. Now, I'm thinking that we were lucky not to collapse through the garage because it was pretty old and did really resemble a garage that had been caught on fire. Plus, the house and garage were not level to each other. The garage was actually a little lower than the house. So it may seem easy to you, but we used to jump BACK to the house from the garage. Also, I think I was in like 7th grade and not very tall. My sisters were younger than that and even smaller. So how on earth did we come to the idea that jumping from the house to the roof was a good idea? I am thinking that was probably because of our older brother. He was usually the one who got us into such shenanigans. Which brings me to my next point...

My brother used to remove the ladder from the house/garage and we would have to jump to get down. I was on the garage with two friends (Lena and Joyce) and we decided to jump. One of them jumped first and landed on her knees. The other one jumped and landed on her butt. I jumped and thought I broke both of my ankles. I landed on my feet, like a cat, but then fell to the ground thanks to the horrible pain. Of course that didn't stop us from doing it again.

My youngest sister (Shelby) once decided to climb down the garage via the tree in the neighbor's yard, which also had this huge, tall, spiky fence. She almost fell and came up all scraped up and hurting. Yikes!

We used to trek out to this tank and play in the "quicksand". It felt like real quicksand. We would sink our bodies down into it and we would get stuck. We had to fight and fight and continue to fight in order to get out of said quicksand. We often had to pull one of us out because it was just too difficult alone. I can't imagine if we would have "pranked" each other and took off running and left the other one in the quicksand. I guess we wouldn't do that because then we'd have one less kid to get in trouble with.

Also, we used to swim in the tank. Thinking back, that's so gross. I can't imagine what kinds of disgusting things are lurking beneath the surface. We were out there ALL the time. My dad even built us our own makeshift dock. It was this wood platform with gigantic barrels underneath it and we even had a ladder. I know, creative, huh?

When we lived out in the country, my parents were nice enough to get us go-carts and a three-wheeler. Let's just say three-wheelers are incredibly dangerous and while I'm at it I'll just say so are go-carts. We used to drive incredibly fast on the 3-wheeler around the house. Well...you see...this tree jumped out in front of me...and hit me...and I was on crutches for like 6 months. 5th grade was the worst year of my life.

I was the passenger on one of our go-carts with my crazy cousin (Aimee) driving. She came down this hill and turned so fast I flew off. I didn't break my arm or anything, but it hurt like hell for a really long time.

We had some horse stables out behind the house. I think this was around the Babysitter's Club time frame because my sisters and me decided to make our own special clubhouse. So we brought chairs, magazines, a radio, and other assorted items out to our new clubhouse. We even used mom's sheets to make walls. Needless to say, those damn walls couldn't keep out our brother and his friends much less the disastrous thunderstorm that ruined our clubhouse AND radio.

Another time on the go-cart, we (my brother driving and me as passenger) saw a huge snake stretched completely across the dirt road. So we turned around at the cattle guard (yes we used to love to ride over that thing because of the bumps) and went screaming to our dad. The next thing we know, my dad, Uncle John, and Tim (a family friend) are out in the tall grass in their hunting boots with shotguns. I know, dangerous.

Oh man, I really could go on and on forever...

Thanks for reading about SOME of my crazy memories with my siblings! :)

"I Carried a Watermelon..."

Good evening. I haven't updated in a while because I've been "sick in tummy with baby" as Joey's Armenian grandmother said. I've been exhausted. I went to bed at 7pm last night (um, that's earlier than most children). I am still throwing up, super nauseous, and getting bad headaches. I can only hope all of this will ease up soon and I will not be one of those women who is sick for the entire 9 months. Joey's grandmother said she was sick with Joey's dad the entire time. She actually said, "Oh I feel so much better on delivery day."

We may have another Snow Day tomorrow. The weather is supposed to get really bad tonight. It'd be nice to sleep in until 9am or so, but I have a lot of work to do since we missed an entire week last week. *sigh*

Good news: I will be 15 weeks tomorrow! Only 2 more weeks until my next Dr's appointment and only 3 weeks until we find out the sex of the baby! Don't forget to vote in the "What Are We Having?" poll, if you haven't already. It looks like the majority says boy, but I am thinking girl for sure.

This week our baby is the size of a lemon:

Tomorrow our baby is the size of a naval orange:
I am not going to lie. I am terrified when it will become a "watermelon".

*gulp*

Snow Day: Take 4 (Boredom)

Today is the 4th day full of snow which means I am stuck inside with two huge dogs that won't sit still long enough for me to watch a movie and a feisty cat who may be pregnant. *sigh* I have not worked at all this week and I am starting to really feel like I need to get outside and around other people. I have spent the day (it's only 11am) watching "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and that show is so funny. Thank God we have DVR because now I can record every episode! I have a few random pictures for your enjoyment.
Lots of snow and lots of running through the snow in our huge backyard.
The snow wore them out and now they are so bored.
I told them to just take a nap and leave me alone! I am trying to watch TV!
Oh, look what happened to our ceiling fan the other day.

Yep, the entire blade fell off and is on the floor in the baby's room. I told Joey that I think Rita did it. You can't see it, but that room has a treadmill. Rita ALWAYS jumps up on the treadmill and makes a bunch of noise. Joey doesn't think she could have possibly jumped up to the ceiling fan, but I beg to differ and I have proof! I was puppy-sitting my mom-in-law, Janet's, new pup.
Here he is:

He is a Tea Cup Pomeranian named Rascal, but I just called him Teacup and he is much smaller than Rita. She is not a big fan of other animals especially if they are dogs. (She likes Roscoe because she grew up with him, but still hates Roxie. Here's a picture of them kissing.)
Anyway, back on subject. This is how Rita spent most of the weekend:
So she spent most of the puppy's weekend stay on top of the fridge or hidden under the couch. Clearly I had a hard time taking a picture of her hidden under the couch. Anyway, you cannot tell me that this cat did not use her magic skills to get on top of the ceiling fan and knock the blade off. We seriously need one of those Spy Cams for pets so we can see what they do when
we are not around. It might look a lot like these videos:

C-o-t-t-o-n-t-a-i-l-s

So I am cleaning house on our 3rd snow day in a row. This house cleaning is definitely a 2 person, 2 day job. I have no idea how I will keep up when we have the baby! I decided to take a break and was going through old pictures. I decided to let you see an awful picture of me from 7th grade. Yes, I was a cheerleader. I'm sure you can guess which one. Um, big nose anyone? Thanks Dad! I don't have the software for my scanner so I had to take a picture of the picture with my camera so pardon the quality!
Yep, I was the only one who forgot it was picture day and wore my hair in a pony tail. If I remember correctly, I think I am wearing the wrong socks, too. I do believe I had to have my mom bring my cheer stuff up to school. If I also remember correctly, she wasn't a very happy camper.

C-O-T-T-O-N-T-A-I-L-S!! Say that fast. It's fun. Yep, we were BJH.

On another note, if you would like to participate and take a guess at the gender of the baby, there's a poll towards the bottom left of the page. Be the first to participate! Be a leader! =P

Snow Day: Take 2

While it is quite nice to have three days off in a row to recoup, I am needing a break from my honey. He has stayed home the last two days as well and let me tell you...I would like to go back to work soon. Monday I slept all day because I felt so crappy. I hate to take sick days especially since I am saving them for Sweet Pea's arrival, but I just had to take one. I did not want to sit in my office sick all day and have to explain to the students why I kept throwing up or getting dizzy. :( I got a call Monday night that we were not having school on Tuesday (happy dance) because of the poor weather conditions. Henry, my father-in-law, "braved" the snow (he LOVES driving his truck in the snow) to come get us and take us to rent movies. I rented three and watched two yesterday. Joey will not let me watch the 3rd one, Despicable Me, without him. So far, he is still sleeping and I am starving. Then I got a phone call yesterday saying we will not have school on Wednesday either. At first, I did another happy dance, but now I am kind of wishing school was back in session. Texas is just not used to snow or ice so this is why we have two snow days in a row:
It probably doesn't look that bad to those of you who are used to snow, but let me tell you: Texas shuts down in this kind of weather. Also, it was over 70 degrees on Saturday. I would really like to go get some burritos from any Mexican food place, but I ventured out the front and not only are our cars covered in snow and barricaded in the driveway, but the streets are covered in ice:
The pups really want me to come out and play so I guess I'll go hang out with them for a little bit. I had a blast throwing snowballs at Roscoe yesterday. He actually seemed like he was dodging them and really wished he could throw them back. *evil laugh* Roxie, on the other hand, just fell to the ground and wanted me to rub her belly. We had a bad snow storm over Christmas Break in 2009. I went outside all bundled up and Roscoe knocked me over backwards. I had a hard time getting up because he knocked me over in a part of the yard where the snow was piled incredibly high. I took it easy this year since I've got a baby in my belly and Roscoe plays rough. Here they are begging me to come out and play:

**5 Minutes later** Um yeah, no thanks. Too cold.

It's a Bit Overwhelming

I figured it's about time I start a new blog and vow to keep this one updated. Since I did away with my MySpace blog back in 2009, I have yet to really jump into a blog again. I am guessing that is most likely due to the lack of interesting events happening in my life since then. Now that A LOT has happened since 2009, I am sure I will be a Chatty Kathy and keep you plenty updated on The Petrosians.

To start things off, we found out on November 23, 2010 that we are expecting our first baby. I am 14 weeks pregnant tomorrow! I can't believe that I found out 10 weeks ago that I'm pregnant. Here is his/her first picture at 9 weeks, it's not the greatest since it's from my cell phone:
My first appointment was great. We got to see the little pea on the ultrasound, hear the heart beat (181) and a bunch of other stuff. The baby is due August 3, 2011, but I am hoping, praying, and wishing that he/she will come sometime after July 18th. I am having "issues" with how much maternity leave I will be allowed to have. The 2010 school year ends July 18th (for me) and 2011 starts back August 8th (well we know I won't be there for that). So I am hoping that if the baby comes a week or two early, then I will have more time at home without it effecting my pay or lack thereof. I am definitely not looking forward to having a summer baby (or being huge and fat in the summer in Texas). I had my second appointment at 13 weeks. It was a routine appointment. I  met with the doctor for just a few minutes. I heard the baby's heart beat (150) on the doppler (and after I heard the "whoosh whoosh" sound I thought, "Okay...I am really pregnant" as if all of this sickness wasn't proof enough). My next appointment is at 17 weeks to decide on the genetic testing, etc (I am declining) and then we will schedule my gender ultrasound with radiology for sometime during the 18th week.

WE CANNOT WAIT TO FIND OUT!!!

Any guesses? Boy or Girl?

I know we did things ass backward, but we got engaged on January 28, 2010. We didn't really have the traditional type engagement, but I'm happy nonetheless. The ring is just lovely and I can't stop looking at it:
We're planning to just have a quick ceremony, just the two of us, and are planning to have a celebration for our one year wedding anniversary. That way, I am not 5-6 months pregnant and will be able to have my mom and sister there. (Mom moved to North Dakota in August and sister moved to California in October). I have never been the "wedding" kind of girl. I HATE wedding shows. I cannot stand Bridezillas and would love to punch each of them in the face. I would love to have wedding photos taken so I can cherish them for as long as this marriage lasts (haha).
